TNT

trends 'n' training

TNT (Trends ‘n’ Training) is a new approach to drug prevention with an event format that: Engages youth and the community as they learn the latest trends in substance use and misuse. Equips parents with talking tips and conversation starters to reinforce prevention at home. Strengthens the community as students, parents, and volunteers come together to create a safer place to live.

How to Create an Impactful Community Event

Take a detailed look at the components of the TNT Toolkit and explore how we can help to create events that educate and inspire action within our communities. We're committed to equipping you with the tools to foster an environment of awareness and prevention, paving the way for a healthier, drug-free future.

What to Expect

Starting an event from scratch is tough. That's where Operation Parent steps in! Our TNT Toolkit is your trusty sidekick, loaded with clear instructions, vibrant branding, and promotional tools to throw a successful and exciting prevention event!

The event itself has students (ideally 6th-9th grade) memorizing drug and alcohol facts that are displayed on large posters at various activity centers. They will then recite those facts and refusal skills for chances to win prizes. Parents/Guardians will be equipped with a take-home sheet with those facts and refusal skills along with talking tips. Not only will this event engage the students, but also the volunteers from the community and the parents!

Your Small Scale Event Blueprint

Our small-scale TNT event makes a big impact! It is ideal for a small school or small organization and is perfect for Red Ribbon week or any Monday through Friday week focused on prevention.

Lunch hours, flex periods, or a specifically set time can work for rolling out the training activities. This program is fun to implement and creates excitement throughout the school while being easier to manage.

Go Big and Bold:
Large Event Guide

When you're ready to scale up, TNT is here to help plan bigger events. The large-scale event will engage more community members and participants from multiple schools, campuses, and possibly surrounding counties.

The large-scale event will require greater “prep time” so it’s important to allow enough time for planning, recruiting, and executing the included steps. Although large-scale events will need more time for planning, the community reach and engagement potential is something to get excited about!
